The Souhrida Club of our school focuses on the holistic development of students, with particular emphasis on their mental, emotional, and social well-being. The Plus One classes commenced with “Varavelppu,” an initiative aimed at welcoming students and helping bridge the generational and communication gap between young learners and their parents. The programme seeks to promote better understanding and meaningful communication between adolescents and their families.
Students are given awareness sessions on a range of relevant topics, including mental health, reproductive health, substance abuse, anti-ragging measures, personal safety, and responsible behaviour. Programmes such as “Koodeyund Karuthekan” and “Makkalodoppom” focus on strengthening healthy parent-child relationships, particularly in the context of the growing influence of social media on young people.
The club also organizes activities designed to develop essential life skills, including communication, decision-making, emotional management, interpersonal relationships, problem-solving, and resilience. The Arts Club of our school provides a vibrant platform for students to discover, develop and showcase their artistic talents. The Sports Club of M.D. Seminary Higher Secondary School, Kottayam, plays a significant role in the holistic development of students by promoting physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, leadership, perseverance, and sporting excellence. The club actively organizes training programmes, competitions, rallies, and sports events throughout the academic year.
The activities of the Sports Club commenced at the beginning of June. To spread the excitement surrounding the FIFA World Cup, a colourful football rally was organized in the school, followed by football matches involving students from different classes. The winning teams were awarded certificates and footballs as prizes.
As a special finale, a Prediction Match was organized on the day of the FIFA World Cup final, involving two teams from the Plus Two section. The students represented the two finalists by wearing the jerseys of Spain and Argentina. In an exciting contest, the Spain team emerged victorious with a score of 2–1. The celebrations were further enhanced when Spain also emerged as the winners of the actual World Cup final, giving the students a memorable experience.
The school provides regular training for teams in football, cricket, shuttle badminton, chess, and kabaddi, enabling students to participate in sub-district-level competitions. Students also excel in cycling, roller skating, taekwondo, karate, kung fu, Kalaripayattu, and gymnastics, representing the school with enthusiasm and pride.
Through continuous training and active participation, the Sports Club strives to nurture promising young athletes while fostering healthy competition, confidence, determination, team spirit, and a vibrant culture of sports in the school.
The Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement (MGOCSM) functions in the school with the aim of nurturing the spiritual growth of students alongside their academic development. It provides a platform for students to grow in faith, fellowship, values, and service while encouraging them to become responsible, compassionate, and morally grounded individuals.
The activities of MGOCSM are guided by its motto, “Worship, Study and Service.” The Movement encourages students to develop a deeper relationship with God through prayer and worship, strengthen their knowledge and understanding through study, and express their faith through service to others.
The activities of MGOCSM for the academic year 2026–27 were formally inaugurated by His Grace Dr. Dioscoros Mar Theodosius Metropolitan on 14 July 2026. The inaugural programme marked the beginning of another year of spiritual activities, fellowship, and student participation.
Prayer meetings are conducted every Friday in the school, providing students with opportunities for prayer, Bible reflection, spiritual sharing, and fellowship. These gatherings help students face the challenges of student life with faith, confidence, and a sense of purpose.
MGOCSM also encourages students to participate actively in cultural and creative activities. Students are enthusiastically preparing for the MGOCSM Kalamela (Arts Festival), through which they have opportunities to develop their talents in music, literature, and the arts while strengthening confidence, creativity, discipline, and team spirit.
The Movement promotes Christian fellowship, moral values, leadership qualities, and a spirit of service among young people. With its emphasis on worship, study, and service, MGOCSM contributes significantly to the holistic development of students.
MGOCSM has a long history dating back to 1907, when it was founded as the Syrian Student Conference in Madras. The first conference was held on 1 January 1908, and the present name, Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement, was adopted in 1960.
The Work Experience Club provides students with opportunities to acquire practical skills through hands-on activities. It aims to develop creativity, self-reliance, teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and an appreciation for the value and dignity of labour.
The club conducts training and activities in handicrafts, hand stitching, paper crafts, cooking, metal embossing, clay modelling, embroidery, woodwork, fabric painting, knitting, and other useful vocational skills.
Through these practical experiences, students learn to work independently as well as cooperatively with others. The club helps them develop confidence and creativity while equipping them with practical skills that can be useful in everyday life and future careers.
The Science Club of our school functions with the objective of fostering scientific temper, creativity, curiosity, and a spirit of inquiry among students. Throughout the year, the club organized various programmes and activities aimed at developing students' interest in science and its applications in everyday life.
A series of activities, including science exhibitions, quiz competitions, poster presentations, seminars, and project displays, were conducted. Students enthusiastically showcased innovative working models and experiments, demonstrating their scientific knowledge, creativity, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.

The Mathematics Club of our school provides students with opportunities to develop interest, confidence, and appreciation for mathematics beyond the regular classroom. The club aims to make mathematics enjoyable, practical, and relevant to everyday life through a variety of engaging activities.
The club organizes mathematics quizzes, puzzles, model-making activities, seminars, exhibitions, and mathematics competitions. These activities encourage logical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity, teamwork, and analytical reasoning.

The Social Science Club of our Higher Secondary School serves as an important co-curricular platform that extends learning beyond textbooks and enables students to develop a deeper understanding of history, geography, economics, political science, and civic responsibilities.
The club promotes experiential learning through activities such as exhibitions and model making, debates, Youth Parliament programmes, quizzes, awareness campaigns, field visits, and surveys. The Legal Awareness Club of our school aims to equip students with a basic understanding of their rights, duties, responsibilities, and the laws that affect their everyday lives. The Anti-Narcotics Club of our school plays an active role in creating awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, which has emerged as a serious threat to the campus environment and society at large. In support of the Government's Operation Thoofan, the club organized a series of awareness programmes throughout the school to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
On 26 June, the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, our school had the privilege of hosting the District-level Anti-Drug Day Celebration, which was attended by distinguished guests, including the District Excise Commissioner, the District Collector, public representatives, and the Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
As part of the observance, an anti-drug awareness rally was conducted, while members of the Guides and NSS volunteers presented an impressive flash mob conveying the message of a drug-free society. The Anti-Drug Pledge was administered by the Assistant Excise Commissioner.
Under the inspiring slogan “Let Sports Be the Addiction of Students,” various sports competitions were organized to encourage students to adopt healthy lifestyles and channel their energy towards constructive activities. An awareness session was also led by Shri Shahul Hameed, Superintendent of Police, Kottayam, who sensitized students to the harmful effects of drug abuse, the legal consequences of possessing narcotic substances, and the punishments prescribed under the law.
The Anti-Narcotics Club functions actively with the wholehearted support and cooperation of the NCC, NSS Programme Officers, and student volunteers. The club is coordinated by Ms. Bindu Susan Varghese, who serves as its Convenor. Through its sustained efforts, the club remains committed to creating a responsible student community and promoting a safe, healthy, and drug-free society.
The Social Service League of our school is committed to supporting students and families who are in need and to promoting a culture of compassion, cooperation, responsibility, and social commitment within the school community.
The organization undertakes various charitable and welfare initiatives for deserving individuals and families. Free school uniforms are provided to students who are unable to afford them, while financial assistance is extended to families of students based on their needs and circumstances. Individuals from the wider community who approach the school seeking financial assistance are also considered and supported wherever possible.
Beyond providing material assistance, the Social Service League plays an important role in cultivating social awareness among students. Through its activities, students are encouraged to understand the needs of others, respond to situations of hardship with empathy, and recognize their responsibility towards the less privileged.
The League therefore serves as an important platform for developing compassion, cooperation, social responsibility, leadership, and a spirit of service among students, helping them understand that education is not merely about academic achievement but also about contributing meaningfully to the welfare of society.
The Environment Club of our school actively promotes environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students through a variety of programmes and initiatives. The activities for the year commenced with the observance of World Environment Day on 5 June, featuring a tree plantation drive, an awareness rally, and an environmental pledge. Students planted saplings on the school campus and took responsibility for their care, thereby fostering a sense of environmental stewardship.
An informative session was conducted by Dr. Aparna Purushothaman, HSST Physics and wildlife photographer, who shared valuable insights on environmental conservation and the importance of protecting nature. Dr. George Moni Palamattom of Caritas Hospital, Kottayam, distributed saplings as part of the programme.
The club also organized a campus cleaning campaign and installed waste bins in classrooms to encourage proper waste management. Through these initiatives, the Environment Club seeks to cultivate eco-friendly habits among students and contribute towards maintaining a clean, green, healthy, and sustainable school campus.
The Health Club of our school promotes good health, hygiene, physical fitness, and overall well-being among students. Its primary objective is to create awareness about healthy habits, balanced nutrition, personal cleanliness, disease prevention, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The club organizes medical check-ups, vaccination programmes, cleanliness drives, fitness activities, and other health-awareness initiatives. It works in collaboration with local health departments, medical professionals, and parents to support the physical and mental well-being of students.
Through its various activities, the Health Club encourages students to develop healthy habits, personal responsibility, social awareness, and a positive attitude towards health and hygiene.
The Hindi Club of our Higher Secondary School aims to promote the Hindi language, literature, and Indian culture among students and to develop a deeper interest and appreciation for Hindi.
The club encourages students to improve their speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills through a variety of literary and cultural activities. During the year, programmes such as poetry recitation, story writing, and essay competitions are organized to provide students with opportunities to express their creativity and linguistic abilities.
