CAREER GUIDANCE AND ADOLESCENT COUNSELLING CELL (CG&AC)

The Career Guidance and Adolescent Counselling Cell (CG&AC), Kerala, functions with the objective of supporting students in making informed career choices while promoting their emotional, social, personal, and academic well-being. The Cell plays an important role in helping adolescents understand their abilities, aspirations, and challenges and in preparing them for higher education, future careers, and responsible citizenship.

The major objectives of the Career Guidance and Adolescent Counselling Cell include providing students with awareness about a wide range of courses, careers, higher-education opportunities, skill-development programmes, and employment prospects. Students are guided to identify their interests, abilities, aptitudes, talents, and areas of potential so that they can make suitable and realistic career plans.

The Cell also focuses on developing essential decision-making and problem-solving skills, enabling students to make informed choices in both academic and personal life. Counselling support is provided to address academic, emotional, behavioural, and personal concerns commonly faced during adolescence. Particular emphasis is given to promoting mental health and emotional well-being by helping students manage stress, anxiety, peer pressure, examination-related concerns, and other challenges of adolescence.

Through various awareness and counselling programmes, students are encouraged to develop important life skills such as communication, self-awareness, leadership, resilience, interpersonal relationships, and responsible decision-making. The Cell also creates awareness about issues such as substance abuse, cyber safety, violence, and other risky behaviours, thereby helping students make safe and responsible choices.

An important aspect of the Cell's functioning is strengthening collaboration among students, parents, teachers, and counsellors to ensure the holistic development of every learner. Students who require specialized psychological, medical, or other professional assistance are guided and referred to appropriate support services in a timely manner.

K-DAT NODAL CENTRE

Our school also functions as a K-DAT Nodal Centre, providing students with an opportunity to assess their aptitude through scientifically designed assessment software. The K-DAT (Kerala Differential Aptitude Test) helps students gain a better understanding of their aptitude and areas of potential through systematic assessment.

The assessment serves as a valuable tool in the career-guidance process by helping students identify areas that are compatible with their abilities and strengths. The results can assist students, along with their parents and teachers, in making more informed decisions regarding subject selection, higher education, career pathways, and skill development.

Through the combined efforts of career guidance, adolescent counselling, aptitude assessment, and timely support, the CG&AC strives to empower students to understand themselves better, make informed choices, overcome challenges, and progress towards becoming confident, responsible, emotionally healthy, and productive citizens.
